Comparing Car Subscription Services

Every Car Subscription Service Provider have different Pro’s and Con’s, so its really important that you get a car that suits you and your business or lifestyle.

Whilst some of the larger companies look cheaper, read the small print, as they may require a long term commitment and levy charges for ending early.

Some of the smaller family run businesses only require a commitment of 1 month to get the best price and can easily be paused, upgraded or downgraded at anytime.

If you spot an error in our comparison chart, please do use the Contact page to drop us a line.

Watch out for the contract term

Some of the larger Car Subscription companies advertise their best rates based on a commitment of 24/36 months (effectively a car lease), if you need it for a shorter period, many of these companies charge a termination fee.

Example. Cazoo currently charge £500 to end your agreement early.

When comparing car subscriptions it’s really important to compare like-for-like.

If you only need a vehicle for 6-12 months, use their tools to get the correct price.

A few of our favourite companies offer a “Qualifying Period” to get the best rate. These are a better solution for many as you can then keep the vehicle at the best price for a longer period of time without the worry of an early termination charge.

Monthly vs. 28 Days

When comparing car subscriptions, it is worth looking at the price in greater details. Many companies such as Flexed advertise their rates as a 28 days figure, which can artificially make the subscription look good value.

But it is worth noting that there are 13 payments per year when paying every 28 days versus the 12 payments when you pay per calendar month like with subscriptions from Care with Volvo and Cazoo.

Example

Car Subscription Company – Advertises 28 Days Figures

Vehicle 1 is £399 + VAT per 28 days
The equivilent monthly rate is £432.25 + VAT

We get this figure by multiplying the 28 day rate by 13 and dividing it by 12.

Where can you get prices for car subscription insurance?

We’ve partnered with QuoteZone to help you compare the prices of 110+ car insurance providers to help you get an understanding of the costs when it comes to subscribing to a car without insurance.

Here are a few helpful tips!

– Don’t forget that you will not be the registered keeper of the vehicle and you will need to list this as a lease vehicle.

– Always take out a 12-month policy, even if you only need the subscription for 3-6 months. It will save you money when you compare this to taking a short-term car insurance policy, even when you take into consideration any cancellation charges. Plus, if you swap cars, you can transfer the policy over.

Does your company offer Car Subscriptions?

If you own or know of a Car Subscription business that we don’t have listed, please get-in-touch with the team and we will look at the company and decide whether or not to list the car subscription business.

We take lots of things into consideration including length of time operating, FCA, customer reviews and more.
