Vauxhall Astra Electric in Blue

Vauxhall have been nice and busy, doing what you may ask? Electrifying the latest Astra, that is what! And we’re super impressed that they have taken the time to shoehorn a bulk of batteries and an electric motor into the latest model.

Vauxhall of course is now under the Stellantis brand which also houses Citroen and Peugeot, so this car has the chassis from the Peugeot E-308, that is a massive positive as the latest electric Peugeots are brilliant.

The latest Astra will be available as both a Hatchback and an Estate notably called a Sports Tourer. It is powered by a 153bhp electric motor and has a 54kWh battery on board giving you an official range of up to 258 miles. A 0-62 mph time of 9.2 seconds is also achievable and a top speed (where legally allowed) of 106mph.

Two trim levels will be available initially; GS and the Ultimate with interiors including a 10″ digital intrument panel mated to a 10″ digital touchscreen located centrally.

Opt for the top spec Ultimate and you will get a few more onboard gadgets such as Head-up Display, Panoramic Sunroof, Heated Windscreen and Matrix LED Headlights.

Charging...

The 54kWh battery accepts 100kW DC Fast-Charging, this allows you to top up from 10 to 80% in around 30 minutes.

At the time of publishing, it is not known who will offer the latest Vauxhall Astra Electric on a vehicle subscription, but it does look the type of car to be seen on the ONTO or elmo fleet so keep your eyes peeled.
